ABOUT US

Tonga Youth Leaders is a national youth led Non-Government Organisation; providing opportunities for young Tongans to become the next generation of regional leaders. We educate and empower youth to realise their full potential, voice their opinions and views and act on causes they are committed to.

MISSION

Provide opportunities for young Tongans to become the next generation of regional leaders. We provide a platform dedicated to leadership and service; by empowering and developing our youth. We inspire young people to make a difference and become catalysts for positive change in their local communities on a national and regional level.

VALUES

Tonga Youth Leaders embodies the values set out in the Commonwealth Charter. The Charter unites the values and aspirations of the Commonwealth – democracy, human rights, and the rule of law. In addition to these values:

  • Education and information-sharing
We strive to educate young people on the purpose, significance of the Commonwealth in Tongan society. We inform and raise awareness on issues affecting the Commonwealth which impact young people and future generations.
  • Active citizenship and empowerment
We promote active citizenship in a local, national and regional context. We empower young people to make a valuable contribution in society, and be confident to involve themselves at governance and decision-making levels. We emphasise the importance of young people’s contribution to and influencing decisions which will impact their futures.
  • Diversity and Inclusion
Tonga Youth Leaders values diversity and inclusion of all young people in Tonga. We are representative of Tonga’s young people, and include a wide demographic from youth aged 15 – 30. We pride ourselves on the values of respect, equality, and tolerance.
